Website Critique Answered

Hello, it has been asked by a customer that I personally address a defaming website critique that has been placed online. The critique states that Adam Smith and MTI Business Solutions are directly responsible for the loss of money through our business practices. This critique is unfounded and incorrect; it is designed to be a personal attack against me, Adam Smith, by an upset ex-employee of the North Burnaby Boxing Club. This webpage has nothing to do with MTI Business Solutions, our staff or our customer base in any way.

Although this comes with the risk of additional unfounded actions by this individual, I feel that I owe it to my customer base to address this issue once and for all.

My Promise

This is a personal attack against me for volunteer work done before MTI had any relationship with NBBC Boxing. MTI has a flawless customer record (including NBBC as they have since moved to our platform) and the best I can do at this point is to promise my customers and prospective customers that this is the act of a person with a personal agenda towards me. I promise to all customers that these actions are not taken lightly and that the upmost attention and due diligence is placed on each of our customer bookings.

At this time a criminal investigation is underway for threats, defamation and foul conduct. Criminal and civil charges are pending.

Apologies

First, I sincerely apologize to MTI for having to endure this abuse as well as to any and all parties involved. I have made repeated attempts to reconcile this situation with no luck, just as the NBBC organization has made repeated attempts also with the response of threats from this individual.

Second, the North Burnaby Boxing Club would also like to apologize for this individual and has issued the following statement of appreciation and apology for all that MTI has done and continues to do for NBBC.

I would like to personally thank Adam Smith and MTI for all of the help that Adam has provided to the North Burnaby Boxing Club over the past 2.5 years.  Adam has volunteered his time and the efforts of MTI to build us a new website and a new database model.  He has also helped us maintain our website hosting, emails and marketing campaigns.  We have also recently created a new company, West Coast Boxing Promotions, and there was no question as to where we were going to go for all of our technology needs.  MTI is there when we need them to answer questions, send email campaigns, build pages and market our events.  We haven't found another company that is able to do everything we need for one reasonable rate and who is so dedicated to helping us grow!  MTI is excellent, They have met all of our needs above and beyond our expectations!

I would also like to take a moment to address an issue that has linked NBBC and MTI to a public complaint.  This complaint was fabricated by an ex-volunteer at the NBBC organization, Skye Taylor.  Although we have attempted to satisfy his requests many times, he continues to defame the NBBC boxing club as well as Adam Smith and MTI Business Solutions.  It is our deepest apologies that Adam Smith or MTI has become involved in this situation.  We hope that this will not negatively influence anyone's decision to use the services of Adam or MTI at any time!  We would refer them for any technology needs, especially website packages and maintenance.  Thank you!

The Scenario

Before the birth of MTI Business Solutions I volunteered my time at a local not-for-profit boxing organization where this individual had once been in charge of a website. This person is/was no longer affiliated with the club in any way; however, he continued to utilize their email system. At the request of the organization his email was stopped, preventing him from remembering a password saved in his email and needed for online banking.

His email was turned back on. He retrieved his information then he was again asked not to use it.

Your Questions Answered

I have been asked to directly answer concerns brought up by this critique. Below is a bulleted list of answers brought to you by myself, Adam Smith (10 years website and software experience), my staff and my colleagues

  • Complaint: My email address was unavailable for most of a day.
    Reality: First, all email systems and websites will need maintenance at some point which may cause limited access. A user should not keep any vital information strictly in their online email account. Second, email addresses belong to the organization/company, not to the individuals who use them. For example, if you get your internet through a company and they offer you an email address, they will likely discontinue the use of this email address if you discontinue the use of their company. Likewise, your current employer will not continue your work email address after you decide to quit the company. The address is given to you for your commitment to them or for your professional needs. In this case the NBBC organization owned the email addresses and allowed volunteers to use them for organization related emails. They then asked that it be discontinued for this person who was no longer affiliated with them.
  • Complaint: Catch-all email addresses violate privacy.
    Reality: Catch-all email addresses are provided so that organizations or companies do not miss emails that are misspelled or sent to the incorrect person within their corporate email structure. They "catch all" of the errant emails. MTI offers this service to all of our customers with a discussion of the pros and cons and allows our customers to make the decision for themselves. NBBC Boxing decided that they would like to use this feature as the email addresses configured were for professional use only and were not to be used for personal emails.
  • Complaint: Email addresses should not be in hyperlinks.
    Reality: Email links may be done in several ways. Images may be used so that you can click on an image to email a person, online forms can be used so that you force the person to fill out a form online and submit it or links may be placed on the website directly. Each method has pros and cons and each one is discussed with our clientele before any decision is made. In this case, NBBC requested that links be placed directly on pages which is the most common way contacting people throughout the internet (see almost any site as an example).
  • Complaint: The NBBC website is not setup for search engines.
    Reality: There are many parts to search engine optimization (SEO). First, the design of each webpage is particularly important. For example, you will want to use as much text as possible and refrain from images and flash designs. Second, websites can include hidden terms and statements used by search engines to find the site easier. This metadata helps some search engines locate the correct pages that people are looking for. Third, websites can have files added to them to ensure that all of their pages are searched and referenced by the search engines. All of the MTI web page designs follow the first set of rules and are designed to be easily indexed by search engines; however, additional search engine optimization is optional at any time as a part of the included maintenance or as additional scheduled time and NBBC has decided that they do not need this optimization done at this time because they are already receiving excellent traffic through their search engine submissions.
  • The remainder of this critique, like the sole reason for it, is a personal attack against me, Adam Smith. It is my hope and the hopes of MTI that this will not affect your decision to contact us about any technology questions that you have. MTI is built on the idea that it is our job to provide you with the pros and cons of each service that we have to offer and that we owe it to our customers to provide the best solution for their needs. We are here to help you succeed in your business goals.

As mentioned at the top of this statement, it is with regret and caution that I write this note. My hope is that this will help alleviate the concerns of some prospective customers while providing an insight to the reasons behind this unfounded personal attack on me and the company in which I am proud to be a part of.

WARNING!!! Before you hire Adam Smith of MTI Business Solutions make sure you read this review:

Adam Smith the president of MTI Business Solutions in Coquitlam, B.C. was used to create the NBBC gym website
which turned into a total nightmare. Adam's refusal to follow basic procedure and his lack of knowledge to build
website is disturbing.

For example, various members and gym staff have email addresses for our website. Email is considered highly
personal and private, so because of that, the standard procedure before moving a website to a new server is
 to transfer the old settings to the new server so no emails are lost and all members can continue
to receive their emails without delay. What Adam did is going to shock you: (he says he's a professional - the president)

Adam Smith didn't feel it was important to take the step to transfer the email settings to the new server
and instead just set up a "catch all" to just one of the staff's account. Can you believe the professional
neglect? This means that all the private emails of everyone were sent to just one of the staff's account - wow!

It's not just the professional neglect but Adam's attitude towards his error. Adam believes his method
is correct.!! There is something seriously wrong with that thinking, as all of the personal emails were
sent for someone else to read... also, this is NOT the procedure taught in school and is very serious
professional neglect.

Okay, if that's not enough.. the design Adam made does nothing but invite spam. It's hard to say if he's
just lazy or just ignorant to basic rules in web design however up until 10 years ago professional companies
stopped writing email addresses on websites to click. Sure you can do this however their has to be code
within the email address to stop spam machines from getting the email addresses... well, it was no surprise
that Adam didn't use the appropriate code. You can see that he did this on his own website if you can call it that:

**how can you trust a company that doesn't even have a website themselves? I mean a real one... see below:

WARNING! MTI Business Solutions Review

Adam Smith from MTI Business Solutions cost me personally over $600 because of his website building
ignorance. I suggest you not take the chance - besides there are so many quality companies out there
that are even cheaper and will do a great job for you.

Before I forget - Adam also doesn't have his own website set up properly so the search engines can find it.
Maybe he'll say he didn't add this yet... however he didn't do this for our website either. I ask, what's the use of having
a website if it can't be found!.... For the reasons I mention above I would find another company to build your website...
After all, why pay for a website that can't be found! Please use someone that knows what they are doing and your
website will be sucessful.
